Maybe we can find consensus by realizing that the basic
premise behind all sequence
stratigraphic methodologies is actually correlating stratal surfaces and
defining surface bounded stratigraphic units.
Thus a methodology of Surface-bounded Stratigraphic (Epi-Stratigraphic)
Units, with user-defined flexibility for choosing the type or types of stratal
boundaries used to define Members, Formations, and Groups may provide the
common ground for the various sequence stratigraphic methodologies to live,
prosper, and co-exist under an informal or formal stratigraphic code.
