Recent Exploration in Suriname, Guyana and French Guiana ‐ a Contractor's Perspective

Abstract

Recent Exploration in Suriname, Guyana and French Guiana - a Contractor's Perspective. Ramps has provided integrated logistics support to drilling in Guyana (all Exxon's wells since 2015 and Tullow's upcoming wells for 2019), Suriname (Tullow, 1 well in 2017 and Kosmos, 2 wells in 2018) and French Guiana (Total, 1 well in 2019). This has allowed Ramps to work with most of the companies servicing the operators and grants a unique perspective of the supply chain. The majority of service providers have come out of Trinidad for all these projects, moving equipment and materials via supply vessels from Trinidad to the rigs and back. The presentation will discuss the growing need for supply vessels and shorebase facilities in the region, opportunities for rig/vessel/helicopter/shorebase sharing, increased demand on suppliers of drilling fluid, cement and drilling tools, oil spill response collaboration opportunities and some of the challenges with immigration for persons working between various countries. Challenges with these aspects of logistics can have detrimental effects on the cost of exploration and development drilling if not catered for adequately.
