Digital Transformation in Neo-natal Intesive Care Unit

Abstract

Digital transformation may be applied to all industries and businesses and varies from retails, to supply chain, healthcare, power, Oil and Gas and others. An NICU case study will be illustrated and will highlight the benefits from machine learning model and big data analytics in healthcare. The lives of premature infants may be spared by early detection of infection through the collection of vital sign data. SpO2, heart rate and other data are collected in real time by the monitor attached to the infant. Based on clinical research and the large volume of collected data, an analytical model can predict incoming infections within 12 to 24 hours and prompt treatment may be initiated providing improved health outcomes.
