Subandean Core and Cuttings Integrated Fracture Analysis

Abstract

Interest in natural fracture studies in surface, core and cuttings from Subandean Devonian formations (Santa Rosa, Icla and Huamampampa) has been increasing since 1998. This has been brought about by greater geological and petrophysical knowledge of the significant role of fractures and the potential damage produced by subsurface fluid flow related to the increasing percentage of gas discoveries. Composite graphs done integrating laboratory data: sedimentological and lithological Selley and core gamma-ray log, core image, core tracing, fracture-density hystograms, poral textures petrographically observed/SEM and petrophysical results. The relationship between depositional facies and deformation features are considered. Facies were defined according to the depositional textures (grain size, shape, and roundness), sedimentary and biogenic structures and clay content. The fracture types of deformation features observed are evaluated, thickness was measured on screen in the histograms of the composite graphs by using CAD. Fracture-density counting was done in accordance with 0.50 m windows.
