Finding the Sweet Spot Unconventional Resorces Using Onsite Isotope Analysis and Tight Oil Analysis During Drilling in the Anadarko Basin, Oklahoma

Abstract

In Unconventional reservoirs, light hydrocarbon analysis is can provide critical information in regards to Sweet Spot determination, reservoir quality and production yields. Due to the fast evaporative nature of light hydrocarbons, critical information is often lost using conventional analysis techniques like Rock Eval. Similary, due to the tight rock and low perm nature of unconventional resource plays, mud gas analysis also contains limitations of accurate detection of the heavier hydrocarbon compoenets due to these hydrocarbons still trapped inside the tight rock while drilling resumes. We have developed a new methodology for analyzing light hydrocarbons during drilling and determining the Sweet Spot in Unconventional Resources. This metholdogy implores the uses of the Tight Oil Analyzer instrument (light hydrocarbon analysis) which measures all compoenets
