Application of High-Resolution Paleogeomorphology Reconstrution Technology in Reservoir Prediction—A Case Study About Southern Section of Liaoxi Doming in Bohai Bay Basin

Abstract

The paleogeomorphology is a mainly factor that control development and distribution of sedimentary system in a basin. Combination styles paleogeomorphology restrict the accumulation site and scale of sandy body. The transport ability of valleys as well as their occurrence period mainly controls distribution site, period and scale of sand body. In this article, large lithologic - overlap trap was developed in Southern section of Liaoxi Doming. The development degree of reservoirs and their distribution are key factors that restrict exploration of oil and gas in this area. Thus, the reconstruction of paleogeomorphology applied in lower prospecting area is based on division of found oil group. The denudation quantity had been rebuilt, and then original thickness of strata was reconstructed by burial depth and characteristics of the seismic response. Furthermore, paleo-water depth was restored via lithology, onlap point and seismic response. Finally, high-resolution paleogeomorphology was accomplished. Base on the Paleogeomorphology reconstruction, through the quantitative analysis to the cross-sectional area and extension length, The extension of the length is 1.2 to 4.1km and cross-sectional area is 0.04–0.04km2. Quantitative analysis the transporting capability in different periods of valleys. Analysis result that, capacity of sand transiportation is stricktly controlled by the cross-sectional area and extension length of the vellay, and several valleys develops great fan body that composes of several braided delta, Finally, we detailed description of the distribution characteristics of sedimentary system at different time. For lithologic - overlap trap reservoir exploration in the study area has important guiding significance.
