Abstract

The lower Permian succession includes fluvial deposits that erosively overlie eolian dune sandstones and pass upwards into marginal marine facies. These fluvial deposits straddle the Pre-Khuff unconformity and occur in two rock units, informally known as the Unayzah A/Tinat Member and the Basal Khuff Clastics. This study utilizes subsurface cores to investigate the stratigraphic development and significance of such deposits.
