Abstract

Ocean Bottom Cable (OBC) seismic survey has several technical advantages over conventional towed-streamer technique as it enables the acquisition of wide azimuth and high fold datasets having long offsets and less spatial discontinuities.

Traditional processing techniques often smear or ignore the wide azimuth information by Previous HitcommonNext Hit Previous HitoffsetNext Hit prestack Previous HitmigrationNext Hit. However, imaging with OVT (Offset Vector Tile) gathers becomes a common practice. OVT is a single fold cube consisting of traces with similar offsets and azimuths. Therefore, Previous HitmigrationTop in OVT domain permits preservation of offsets and azimuths information in imaging gathers which results in improved subsurface imaging and illumination. In addition, subsequent analysis can provide insight into reservoir properties via azimuthal anisotropy analysis.
