Abstract

The Gharif Formation comprises a sequence of Permian clastic marine and fluvial sediments with an extensive subcrop across most of the interior of the Sultanate of Oman with top depths of up to 5200m and thickness up to 260m. There are a large number of oil reservoirs located in the Gharif within PDO concession area, but most of the formation is water-saturated.
