Abstract

Bapco has drilled two onshore wells in the NE part of Bahrain. The Arab objectives were drilled on the structural closure on the NE side of the possible fault barrier. In both the wells the Arab A, B & C reservoirs had good oil shows but in testing they turned out to be water bearing with traces of heavy oil. The wells were drilled off structure (evident during drilling) which was later established with advanced seismic processing. Bapco has mapped and upgraded a drillable prospect with very good economic potential conventional and unconventional reserves. The primary target is Arab Formation and a secondary target is Hanifa-Fadhili Formation.
