Abstract

Seismic energy is attenuated as it propagates through the earth in waveforms. The seismic quality factor Q quantifies the wavefield attenuation. The effects of attenuation can be reversed using Q compensation methods to recover high frequencies. Q estimation is required to accomplish this correction. In this case study, we apply Q compensation methods to seismic data that suffers from the loss of high frequencies due to attenuation.
