The West Velma field is located in Stephens County, Oklahoma. It is one of the oil fields in Ardmore basin. This basin is structurally complex due to the intense tectonism that it has undergone. The Arbuckle, Ouachita and Wichita orogenies resulted in formation of normal and thrust faults, vertical dipping beds, and folds such as overturned folds. All these structures are expressed in the subsurface in West Velma field which is located at the southwest flank of the basin and close to the Wichita Uplift.

The aim of this project is to determine the timing of deformation. This could be Syn-depositional or post-depositional. Evidence of reservoir compartmentalization due to faulting would be looked for in the field. Correlation of well logs, construction and balancing of cross sections would be used as a tool to understand the structures in this field. The outcome of this study would aid in determining the role of structures in the field as hydrocarbon migration paths and traps.
