The Petroleum Systems and Effective Source Rocks on the South Kara Sea and North West Siberian Basin

Nikolay Lopatin

As we know from world exploration results, the main part of petroleum geologists have a good information about seals and reservoirs, but only small information’s concerning hydrocarbons source rocks, pod of active SR, migration oil and gas between source rocks locations and accumulations zones and so on. The collection of the core samples was included about 1793 from the Bovanenkov wells 119, 116, 114, Beloostrovskaya 1, Leningradskaya and Rusanovskaya 1 and 2, Gydan 102, 103, 104, 108, Geophysics 50, 53, 59, Utrennee 270, 287 and others oil fields. Whole condensate and oil collections (56), 120 extractions from probably SR for GC and GC-MS, vitrinite reflections were used for all samples. For Basin Modeling we used “PetroMod-1D (10/11)” and “Temis Suite-2D” for 14 bores holes. This study has been shown that we have active source rocks only in the Low Cretaceous and Jurassic sequences: - Low Cretaceous oil generation potential has a low comparative degree and has a kerogen type III. Kerogen with bigger oil generation potential we can meet in lower part of the Akchian Formation. - Upper Jurassic marine carbonate-siliceous shales (Yanovstan Fm) and shallow part of sea (Golchikhin Fm) and of the sea-shore Danilov Fm are become poor and not actively oil generation in maturity level as MK1. - Malyshev Fm of J2 genetically connected with oxidizing sediment and diagenetic conditions, that defined their gas-generation potential. - In deeper part of the Kara Sea area were identify black shale of the Radom Fm, which on the maturity as MK2-MK3. - Tampey Fm from the T2-T3 identifies big thickness of the marine shale formations, which located in optimal zone active gas generation (MK4) and rater big gas-generation potential. Undiscovered resources of oil in Yanovstanov Fm on the Southern Kara Sea and Northern West Siberian sineclize can be accumulate 3060 mln t. and HC gases 6375 bln m3. In the Malushev Fm the general scale of oil generation on the study area was approximately 9980,5 mln t., migration - 6520,6 mln t. and accumulation in oil fields - 140,5 mln t. Radom oil and gas generation Fm can be produced about - 192800 mln t. and your accumulation – 1700 mln t. of oil. In the same time, the scale of HC gas generation was about 121737 bln m3, and HC-gas accumulation - 14265 bln m3 if we used coeff. of HC-gas accumulation ~ 10-12%. Tampey gas generation source rocks richest, 413539 bln m3, and on Kacc - 3,5-5,5%, the general undiscovered gas resourced 21,7 trl m3.
