Morrow-Springer sandstones in the Anadarko Basin have been excellent exploration targets for seismic-stratigraphic aplications since the mid-1970's. These high impedence sandstones are detectable and can be better delineated with new high-frequency imaging methods. The resolution of these Pennsylvanian-Mississippian sandstones has improved significantly in the last 30 years, with an increase infrequency content of the seismic data, as follows:
Date Frequency sandstone resolution
1980 60 Hz. 62 feet
1995 90 Hz. 42 feet
2003 160 Hz. 23 feet
With three-dimensional coverage, areal mapping of these sandstones can be enhanced to better define environments of deposition and increase the understanding of potential reservoirs.
