As a rule, above deposits of hydrocarbons ascending fluid streams form in bottom sediments, pore water and near bottom waters complex geochemical anomalies. These anomalies are generated, first of all, high background by concentration HC of gases, including, metane with the raised maintenance of a heavy isotope of carbon, fields of the raised number Hc-oxidizing microorganisms, in some cases, the raised maintenance of oil fraction in structure of bitumens, the high maintenance of sulfides of iron and copper, etc. the Peripheral part of anomaly is characterized by the raised concentration of dioxide of carbon and hydrogen. Various combinations of helium, metane and other gases are characteristic attributes of display in gas fields of bottom sediments fluid conductive zones of explosive infringements.

Other prominent aspect of works on the shelf is high cost of drilling works of the prospecting stage, not allowing to spend grading the structures revealed by seismic works.

In SC SEVMORGEO together with OOO "SBNE” was founded the innovative technology allowing is developed not only to give the zone forecast oil-and-gas-bearing capacity of shelf areas and a substantiation of directions of the further prospecting works, but also to carry out grading already revealed structures that does the given technology by one of the most economic kinds of prospecting works. A basic element of the given technology is the complex geochemical method including performance gas-geochemical (including isotope δ13C), mercury measuring and bitumens researches in a combination to accompanying microbiological and lithological-mineralogical works.

Approbation and development of a method were spent on productive and perspective areas Barents, Kara, East-Siberian and Okhotsk Seas, including trans regional transacts-AR-4, AR 5, 1-DV, 1 OM, and shallow water zone-Gydanskaya and Yuratskaya Bays.
