Offshore electromagnetics (EM) is a rapidly developing technology used for hydrocarbon detection. Electromagnetic Geoservices AS (EMGS AS) offers a number of offshore EM techniques such as: Sea Bed Logging (SBL), Marine Magnetotellurics (MMT), as well as time domain controlled source electromagnetics (tCESM). These techniques each have varying advantages and degrees of appropriateness, depending on the geological situation and target of interest. Offshore EM is fast establishing itself as an integral part of the hydrocarbon industry’s toolbox. In this talk we present some example EM data to demonstrate what the technology is capable of, and how it aids in gaining valuable decision-making information on prospects.
