A Three-dimensional Geological Model of the Morichal Member, Oficina Formation, in the central section of the Jobo field was realized with the purpose of characterizing the facies heterogeneities allowing, at a median and great scale, simulation of the dynamic model of the area. This new geological model helped in reproducing the history match of production and allowed a good prediction of the behavior of the fluids.

The Jobo field is located at the Venezuela's Eastern Basin, in Monagas State, about 100 km. to the south of the Maturin city. This field is part of the Area Mayor of Temblador to the northeast of the Orinoco Oil Belt.

In this paper we present the methodology and the results from the Morichal Member's 3D geological modeling of an area of 46 km2 of the Jobo field. A high-resolution geocellular model was built, based on the information gathered from 62 vertical wells, 800 feet of cores and 3D seismic that covers in its entirety the study area. Advanced technologies of geocellular modeling were used beside techniques of integration of structural, stratigraphic, petrophysic and sedimentologic disciplines and multi-resolution data. The new geological model derived from this study, allowed a better definition of the external and internal geometry of the studied area and a better understanding of the present heterogeneities of the reservoir. This model has been upscaled to support the dynamic model and is being used for volumetric calculations.
