The Carnarvon Basin, Northwest Shelf, offshore Western Australia is a major hydrocarbon producing area especially for gas. Several world-class gas fields have been discovered including North Rankin, Goodwyn, Gorgon, Chrysaor, Dionysus, Geryon, Scarborough and Perseus Fields. In recent years, exploration success has continued with several significant discoveries made in the basin including the giant Io-Jansz discovery, Wheatstone, Chandon and Clio gas accumulations.

The application of seismic related technologies have provided a key tool to differentiate pre drill geologic risks to ensure low risk prospects are identified using a rigorous assessment process. Seismic acquisition and processing technology advances have allowed improved interpretation, volumetric determination and geological risk assessment to where prospects can have a pre drill probability of geologic sucess greater than 50%.

The poster highlights and summarises several of the recent discoveries.
