ABSTRACT: An Integrated Study Using Multicomponent Previous HitInductionNext Hit Data, Nuclear Magnetic Resonance, Borehole Image and Core Data in Tacata Field, Eastern Venezuela Basin

Introduction of multicomponent Previous HitinductionNext Hit instrument to the industry has revolutionized the petrophysical evaluation of thinly bedded laminated sand shale sequences. Conventional Previous HitinductionNext Hit tools, do not give a reliable resistivity measurement , unless the evaluating formations are as thick as the vertical resolution of the tool, generally several feet.The new multicomponent Previous HitinductionNext Hit tool, with three transmitter – receiver coil arrays in the X, Y and Z planes, relative to the tool axis, provides a reliable vertical and horizontal resistivity (Rv & Rh) which are used in tensor resistivity model to calculate volume of laminar clay and true resistivity of thin bed sands. 
In addition to borehole acoustic image and NMR data, Rv and Rh data were acquired using 3DEX SM tool in an exploration well in Tacata Field in the Eastern Venezuela. 
The present paper illustrates how information derived from horizontal and vertical resistivity is integrated with NMR and borehole image data to provide additional information for the reservoir. Acoustic image of the well is compared with the core photograph to illustrate the effect of lamination on the conventional resistivity Previous HitlogNext Hit. The clay bound water calculation from NMR Previous HitlogTop is compared with the volume of laminated clay from 3DEX tool.
