Abstract: Geophysical Characterization of the Cove Fort-Sulphurdale, Utah Geothermal System

ROSS, HOWARD P., Energy & Geoscience Institute at the University of Utah; ROBERT E. BLACKETT, Utah Geological Survey; JOSEPH N. MOORE, Energy & Geoscience Institute at the University of Utah

Summary

The Cove Fort-Sulphurdale geothermal system is part of a major thermal anomaly that occurs in central Utah. Electric power has been produced from a relatively small steam cap since 1985. Extensive geological and geophysical studies have been completed in the area since the early 1970s. The geothermal resource is well-expressed in the geophysical data, but the primary water-dominated reservoir remains untested because of limited exploration drilling.
