Abstract: Australian and Eastern Indonesian Petroleum Systems

BRADSHAW, MARITA, DIANNE EDWARDS, JOHN BRADSHAW, CLINTON FOSTER, AIDAN MOORE, ANDREW MURRAY and ROGER SUMMONS, Australian Geological Survey Organisation

Summary

Work over a dozen years at the Australian Geological Survey Organisation (AGSO) has produced a continent-wide coverage of data for paleogeography, petroleum systems and oil geochemistry. Building upon this foundation, a classification of petroleum supersystems has been established by Bradshaw (1993) and Bradshaw et al. (1994, 1997). These supersystems are a framework for understanding hydrocarbon occurrence in Australia that can be used predictively in frontier areas, in northern and western Australia and into eastern Indonesia.
