Abstract: A Composite Standard and Graphic Correlation Analysis of the Mirador Formation, Northern Llanos, Colombia

AURISANO, R.W., 501 Westlake Park Blvd, Houston, TX 77079

Summary

The Eocene Mirador Formation is an important reservoir unit in the Llanos Basin of Colombia. A Northern Llanos composite standard, graphic correlation study of the Mirador in the Cano Caranal Block shows a hiatus within the Mirador spanning approximately 2.16 million years. The unit identified as Mirador in the Centellas-1 well is late Middle Eocene but older than in the remaining wells, possibly because of a wrench fault between them. Composite standard, graphic correlation analysis allows the quantification of missing time and the recognition of stratal architecture.
