Summary

4D seismic reservoir monitoring combines the analysis of acoustic changes occurring over time in an oil and gas field with other borehole and subsurface measurements that track time-dependent change caused by drainage of oil, gas and water into wells. We have visualized time-lapse simulations of drainage by using 4D seismic monitoring to update parallel Eclipse and parallel VIP reservoir simulation models. Particle advection is tracked as streaklines computed monthly to match the drainage of a South Timbalier 295 reservoir in the Gulf of Mexico from initial production in 1990 to the present day.
