Abstract: Horizontal Wells in Rotliegendes Gas Fields - Evaluation and Optimization

A dataset comprising 22 horizontal wells in 14 fields from the Permian Rotliegendes Eolian Sandstone has been analyzed in detail. Integrated geoscience and engineering methods were applied for interpreting log and well test data, providing guidance on data collection, developing predictors for permeability and well productivity, and optimizing well location and drilled length. The data analyzed is summarized in six poster panels concentrating on the following elements.

While the study focused on a particular geological depositional setting there is much relevance to the evaluation of horizontal wells across a range of reservoir types.
