Contemporary knowledge about the structure and tectonics of the Outer/Inner West Carpathian contact zone is from the geologic mapping, results of the deep boreholes and realized complex geophysical measurements. Especially the latest reflection seismic profiles (2-D), magnetotelluric measurements, with the results of seismological analyses, have offered many significant data enabling one to compile a complex lithospheric model of one of the most complicated structural zones in the West Carpathians.

On several cross-sections character of the flysh units (Magura, Obidova-Slopnic, Silesian, Klippen belt) and their platform basement is documented and interpreted. The styles of structure of the Inner West Carpathian units (tatrikum, fatrikum) can be distinguished. The accessible geophysical and remote-sensing data were used for verification and analyses of geological models (different authors) for the first time.
