Study of Mineral Composition and Revealing the Cause of Salts Scaling on Oil-Field Equipment

Due to expansion of human influences on environment a new trend appeared in
mineralogical science - mineralogy of technogenesis. In gas and oil producing
industry the object of investigation in mineralogy of technogenesis is minerals
of salt scales and corrosion products on oil-field equipment. This field of
investigation is connected with increasing volumes of water flooding, methods of
EOR, application of different solutions in the process of well drilling, oil
production and treatment, as well as with regimes of these processes.
About 20 minerals were known to be present in composition of salt scales and corrosion products. During detailed investigation additionally more than 30 minerals have been revealed. Sulphides, halides, oxides, hydroxides, carbonates, sulphates are widely developed.
Complex solution of the problem of salt scaling includes investigation of scaling mineral composition, chemical, radiochemical composition of formation, injected and associated waters and reservoir rocks.
As a result of conducted investigations causes are revealed and forecast is prepared for salt scaling, methods of their prevention and removal are developed, in that number, methods for removal of hard-soluble salts, for example, radiobarite.
