J. Daniel Arthur

Through a national effort funded by the U.S. Department of Energy to assist states and industry, the first PC and environmental risk-based, fully-relational, normalized, and comprehensive electronic data management system for state oil and gas regulatory agencies was developed using Microsoft Access and MS Visual Basic. The system is now being implemented by several oil and gas state regulatory agencies including the Montana Board of Oil and Gas Conservation (MBOGC). Development of the Risk Based Data Management System (RBDMS) has also included enhancements for industry applications including automated reporting to states. The RBDMS now implemented by the MBOGC stores comprehensive well and permit data, injection well data, oil & gas production information, and provid s a large assortment of personalized reports and functions. For example, it offers the ability to automatically create graphs of historical production data and an assortment of other data relating to wells under either injection and/or production. RBDMS implementation by the MBOGC should simplify data retrieval and analysis by MBOGC staff and operators, promote electronic data exchange, and provide several other benefits to both industry and the State of Montana.

This poster session will include an automated overview of the Risk Based Data Management System (RBDMS) on PC as well as provide personal demonstrations of the system by the RBDMS project manager. If desired, attendees will also be able to schedule times to test the system personally.
