Prognosis of Oil Fringes in Gas Fields of the North-West Siberia

Nikolay Nemchenko, Alla Rovenskaya

Prognosis of possible oil fringes in gas fields may serve as an important guideline in the exploration and following development of deposits.

An approach to this problem is based on the ratio of individual gas compounds in hydrocarbon and isotopic composition of carbon. This method is based on the subdivision of gas into one- and two-phase systems of different genesis.

To reveal oil fringes it is necessary to study geochemical ratios of individual compounds of gasoline fractions in condensate. The data used in this prognosis are not affected by sampling conditions and techniques. These prognostic methods were used for searching possible oil fringes in the northern west Siberian gas fields.

As a result of this study the prognosis of oil fringes in Urengoyskoye, Yamburgshoye, Severo-Komsomolskoye and Bovanenskoye Gas Fields was carried out, which has been proved by exploration drilling.
