ABSTRACT: New Database for Selected Natural Gas Reservoirs in Wyoming

A comprehensive computer database was created for 299 different gas reservoirs in Wyoming. Each of these reservoirs had produced 5 bcf or more of gas through l990. The database contains reservoir parameters, gas analyses, production figures, proved developed reserve figures, and information about trap types, lithologies, diagenetic overprints, and depositional environments. Data were collected from a number of published sources as well as from Dwight's Energydata, hearing exhibits from the Wyoming Oil and Gas Conservation Commission, and the Wyoming Geological Survey's oil and gas files. INTERA-Bergeson(TM)

calculated proved developed reserves for each of the reservoirs. The database is a modification of PARADOX(TM) and includes a freewrite section and a variety of sorting options. The information in this database was used to divide the 299 Wyoming reservoirs into 22 plays and a number of subplays based primarily on age, depositional environment, and trap type. These 299 reservoirs produced 13.4 tcf of natural gas through 1990, which was 89% of Wyoming's cumulative production.
