ABSTRACT: Previous Hit3-DNext Hit Seismic Surveys in the Pannonian Basin, Hungary: Recent Results on Structural, Stratigraphic, and Reservoir Studies

Hungary, which has been producing oil and gas for more than 50 yr, is a mature hydrocarbon province. For this reason, new discoveries are expected to be small and associated with complex structures and possibly unpredictable changes in reservoir properties. Detailed seismic coverage will be required to locate and map such new prospects. In addition, the older producing fields will require utilization of enhanced oil-recovery techniques in order to maximize production from known reservoirs. For these reasons, the amount of three-dimensional (Previous Hit3-DNext Hit) seismic coverage has been increasing during the past several years.

A number of examples of Previous Hit3-DNext Hit data from diverse tectonic settings involving different reservoir models of various complexity are presented. The areas were selected to show certain types of application of Previous Hit3-DNext Hit seismic techniques following initial discovery

of a commercial field through the development phase and to help in the planning of enhanced oil-recovery activities. For each area, geologic models, tectonic setting, and reservoir types are described. In addition, we briefly outline the field acquisition parameters and some key processing steps such as static Previous HitcorrectionNext Hit, azimuth and dip independent dynamic Previous HitcorrectionNext Hit, and deconvolution parameters.

Lastly, we present the most important results of Previous Hit3-DTop interpretation including the use of seismic attributes, modeling, possible links between lithology and seismic reflections, and comparisons between synthetic and real data.
