ABSTRACT: Simulation of Thermal History and Silica Diagenesis: Cadotte Sandstone, Alberta Deep Basin

Temperature history of the Albian Cadotte Sandstone in the northern part of the Alberta Deep Basin (Canada) was reconstructed with the help of basin modeling and constrained with organic maturity parameters and fluid inclusion data. Petrography and mass balance calculations using the thermal evolution of the sandstone indicate a dominance of closed system, small scale transport of silica leading to reduction or occlusion of primary porosity with quartz overgrowth.
