Petroleum Potential of Deeply Buried Formations: Precaspian and West Siberian Provinces

Further increases in the hydrocarbon commercial resources in the Precaspian and West Siberian petroliferous provinces are connected with the development of superdeep sediments. The right orientation of exploration works greatly depend on the reliability of the hydrocarbon phase-state prediction. The hydrocarbon phase-state prediction is based on geology-geochemical indices combined analyses that allow the carrying out of the zonation of potential areas in accordance with development of liquid and gaseous hydrocarbons and the evaluation of their possible commercial potential. The West Siberian and Precaspian petroliferous provinces are characterized by a number of geology-geochemical indices and have the distinction of determining prediction of different phase-state zones. There is a r ftogenic marginal trough on the Siberian platform in the northeastern part of Western Siberia. It arose in conjunction with the zone of the discordant paleorift systems and was named the Purgydan syneclise. It is a rather full tectonic analog of the classic marginal syneclise--Precaspian--and on that was based the possibility of a comparative

analysis of the oil and gas present in spite of a variety of heat-flow intensity, both of the provinces are characterized by similar paleo- and modern geothermal conditions. The hydrocarbon phase-state prediction carried out on Precaspian and West Siberian petroliferous provinces at a 5000-m level has enabled us to outline a row of potential zones of exploration of pools with different phase states.
