Formation Damage and Completion Strategies

John M. Kullman, L. Previous HitMichaelTop Dixon

Formation damage can severely impair the natural productivity of any reservoir. Damage may occur during any phase of drilling, completion, or stimulation. This presentation reviews mechanisms that cause formation damage and describes methods used to recognize, prevent, and correct formation damage. Diagnosing the damage mechanisms through integration of petrography and fluid analysis is important. Recommendations can be made based on the integration of core data and other information.
