Abstract: Petroleum Development in Coastal Zone

Previous HitRobertTop W. Bybee

Petroleum exploration, development, production, transportation, refining, and marketing operations can and should be carried out in a manner environmentally acceptable to the people who live in the coastal zones of the Circum-Pacific basin. These energy-related activities are absolutely essential to their quality of life and to their standard of living.

In the past, when environmental considerations seemed less important, some petroleum activities did degrade the environment. A comparison of these earlier methods of operation with the new will lead to a better understanding of present practices which are designed to protect and enhance the environment.
