Abstract: Applications of Oil Field Water Geochemistry to Exploration

A. Previous HitGeneTop Collins

Water is involved in the primary mechanisms that cause the migration, accumulation, preservation, and destruction of oil and gas fields. Knowledge of the chemical and physical characteristics of subsurface waters is useful in the search for oil and gas. Some of the characteristics that have proved useful in this search are the class and type of water, dissolved organic and inorganic species, redox potential, and pressure and temperature of the in-situ water.
